In Journalism there is one thing that you cannot do as a journalist. You do not write about your views on a religion. It can and will offend people, no matter how you put it. It's the kind of thing you can't do without putting your job in danger.
Most people avoid talking about religion with people who don't share their religion. It causes conflict, just like writing about it does. No one likes being told their wrong in their beliefs, and that's usually what happens when you address religion in the news.
If you displease the readers you displease your boss. You could ruin the newspaper's reputation, and don't expect to not be fired if it's your fault. The customer is always right, and all that jazz does apply to almost every business. To make money you have to please the reader, and to do that you don't write about religion. Ever.
