A large portion of Americans have allergies of some sort. Allergies are when your immune system becomes overly sensitive to a substance and causes an unpleasant reaction. You usually become allergic to something during infancy or early childhood.
A child from any family can get allergies, but you're more likely to have them if your family has a history of allergies. Allergies can appear as skin rashes, asthma, food allergies, and what we call "hay fever." Congestion can also be caused by allergies.
If congestion is bad enough a person may a child may have to breathe through their mouth. Untreated, it can affect the development of your facial structure. It can also affect the way your teeth grow.
Allergies are something that plagues children everywhere. It causes uncomfortable reactions, and children miss school because of the symptoms. To deal with allergies you can get allergy shots, or just take allergy medicine. Just use whatever works for you.
